Cultural Communities and Community Service Providers Invitation

Cultural Communities and Community Service Providers Initiative: An Invitation

The Coalition of Cultural Communities for Families Inc., in partnership with Mediation Services, invites your participation in the Cultural Community and Community Service Providers Engagement initiative. This initiative is a series of conversations that will bring together folks representing various cultural communities and representatives from various community service providers. Our hope is to enhance understanding and strengthen services delivered to cultural members.

As both CMCCF and Mediation Services are committed to contributing to healthy communities and healthy families, we recognize that issues related to social justice, equity, diversity and inclusion must be talked about and action taken in order to break down barriers and reduce racism, hatred, and discrimination. In doing so, we will also strengthen community health and overall wellbeing.

Our Roadmap

We are planning a series of three engagements over the next few months. The first of these will be for cultural community members only while the second will be for community service provider organizations. The third and final engagement will bring together both cultural community members and community service provider organizations in dialogue and mutual learning.

Our Goals for these Engagements:

1. For cultural communities to experience community services in a way that better meets their needs.

2. For service organizations to enter into partnerships with cultural communities in order to further strengthen and co-create the services delivered to families. It is our hope that services are delivered in both a culturally and psychologically safe manner.

3. To break down barriers (including racism and discrimination) that many cultural community members experience in attempting to access and receive the services that they need.

The first in this series of engagement dialogues will be for cultural community members only:

Date: February 16, 2023
Time: 6:00 – 8:30 pm. (Dinner will be served)
Location: Mediation Services, 1200 Portage Avenue (3rd floor)

We are inviting you, as a cultural community member to participate in a process, starting with cultural communities, to understand who communities rely on in terms of services from non-profit organizations, which type of organizations do you look to for services and what expectations do you have for these services.

As space is limited, please register as soon as possible!

Thank you for your interest in strengthening cultural communities!
We look forward to your participation!
